ISSA Sacramento Valley Chapter Meeting – 8/21/2026 – AI Governance
Speaker: Dr. Adeel Shaikh Muhammad, Adeel Solutions LLC
Topic: “The AI Governance Gap: Reducing Cyber Risk Without Slowing Innovation”
Synopsis: AI is quickly becoming part of everyday business operations, security workflows, and decision-making, but many organizations are still trying to understand how to govern it in a practical way. This session will explain how cybersecurity and risk leaders can approach AI governance without turning it into a slow, theoretical, or compliance-only exercise.
The talk will cover the real cyber risks introduced by AI adoption, including shadow AI, data exposure, model misuse, third-party risk, and overreliance on automation. It will also share practical ways to align AI governance with existing security programs, SOC operations, risk management, and executive reporting. Attendees will leave with clear ideas they can apply immediately to reduce AI-related risk while still supporting innovation and business speed.
